If you are considering starting a newsletter, it’s vital to develop a well thought out plan.
Start with the kind of audience you wish to reach. This will determine the type of articles needed for your newsletter.
Next, determine how much time you have to devote to the project. If your time is limited, consider volunteers. Volunteers can assist with many of the duties needed in creating a newsletter. Someone experienced in computer skills can manage the more technical side of creating the newsletter, such as publishing programs and web sites.
The most vital part of the plan is the budget for the newsletter. There are a variety of costs involved in starting a newsletter, and all of these should be considered before publishing. For example, there are a large variety of desktop publishing programs available, and they are often expensive, so make sure the program you choose will meet all your needs.
Once your plan, budget, technical aspects and volunteers are all organized and in place, the fun part begins. Choose the right template for your needs from your desktop publishing program, and begin working on your first draft!
I have touched on a just a few aspects of what is involved in develping a newsletter. But if you are looking for more specific information, I highly recommend “How to publish your newsletter” by Carol Luers Eyman. This is a wonderful resource which can help you plan, write and publish a professional-looking newsletter and be successful at it.

I have enjoyed reading the newsletter from before it was a web-letter. I believe it shows us we are not alone as Christians and that we all struggle with pressures of life. The precious thing is the articles don’t just talk but also show how to rise above these pressures and live for God. Keep it up!
